Selecting Read tab
Figure 5-23. ATA5577 Read Tab
The Read menu displays the content of the data blocks 1-7. To read data from an unknown transponder,
the configuration of the transponder must be first known and entered in the Bitrate, Coding, MaxBlock
and Synchronization fields.
The default Read Timing is derived from the Bitrate setting and normally suitable for most transponder
applications.
The synchronization of the transponder can be configured in the Synchronization area. (Terminator is
selected by default.) If Synchronization Bits is chosen, an 8 bit header can be entered. E6h is entered by
default in this field. An extended header can be configured by clicking the 12 Bit Header check box and
entering the longer header in either the Binary or Hex text field. For an ISO11784/85 transponder, the
default header 002h or 003h are needed.
Click the Read button to read the transponder block data as specified by the settings. The transponder
data is read only once. To read the transponder continually, select the Continuously Read check box. To
receive audible notification, select the Sound On check box. This indicates an incorrect or correct
reading.
To read a specific block from page 0 or page 1, click the Direct Access button. The Direct Access mes-
sage box is displayed, see
. Select the Page radio button, (Page 0 or Page 1), then select the
required block from the drop-down list. If the block is password protected, select the Use Password
check box and enter the correct password (in Hex).
Note, before reading, the transponder needs to be configured with terminator synchronization.
