MAINENANCE: BATTERIES

BATTERIES

1.)  Never use a damaged or "puffy" battery. 
2.)  Never charge a damaged or "puffy" battery.
3.)  Always check locking mechanism of batteries is functional, flexible and clean. Discontinue use of   
      batteries whose mechanism is not functioning perfectly.
4.)  Examine chargers regularly for damage to the cord, plug, enclosure or other parts.
5.)  Always check batteries for damage and deformities. If there are any  signs of  either, discontinue use   
      and discharge battery to 10% or below for disposal. Do not disassemble the battery for any reason.
6.)  Check all battery contacts and rub clean with a soft eraser if residue is detected.
      a.)  If contacts are/appear burnt do not use, contact [email protected]
7.)  Check all battery contacts are straight and have not been bent. NEVER touch both contacts at once.
8.)  Check battery indicators functionality. If the  are not working  discontinue use.
9.)  Whenever possible, use  only fully charged batteries.
10.)  Do not  allow battery to come in contact with liquids as this could lead to permanent damage to   
       the battery.
11.)  Follow the  stated  temperature for battery  use.  Currently temperature limits range from -20C to +55C   
      however performance will be affected.
12.)  Following a flight, the battery temperature may be too high to permit safe charging. Allow  batteries to  
       cool beforehand.
13.)  Fully charge and discharge the batteries at least once every three months to maintain battery health.
14.)  Whenever in cold/cool environments, keep the batteries as warm as  possible in order to avoid having  
       the internal heater spend undue energy to heat the battery sufficiently for operation.
15.)  Always keep batteries safe from impact and damage by transporting them inside the designated   
       backpack and plastic carry  case.
16.)  Avoid storage of  batteries beside, with or near metal/magnetic components as this may have a    
       negative effect on the long term battery performance and cell capacity.
17.)  Always transport/store batteries outside of the aicraft.
18.)  Discharge batteries to 30% before transit or air travel.
19.)  Do not  leave charging batteries unattended.
