MAINTENANCE: PROPELLERS
PROPELLERS
1.) Check to make sure the two bolts holding the propeller in place are present and securly fastened into
the electric motor.
2.) Check for chipping, cracking, bending, discolouration, delamination or breakages. If any are present
do not use the propeller.
3.) When flying 1m off the ground, and well back, with eye protection, if you notice two distinct propeller
outline layers when looking at it horizontally, it is likely damaged and needs replacement.
4.) Any noise or vibration during flight could be an indication of a broken propeller.
5.) Be aware that not all propellers spin in the same direction. Markings should be present on propellers
and motors indicating their direction of spin. If not, when removing or replacing propellers write
down the direction in advance or take a photo.
PROPELLER REPLACEMENT ETC
NOTE:
There are two types of propellers at present, Standard Props (which are carbon fiber) and Quiet
Props (which are a carbon/plastic composite). The Standard Props have a very clear fabric pattern, the
Quiet Props are matte black with no pattern.
•
The AtlasPRO is designed with firmware that only supports one type at a time.
•
Attempting to change or mix propeller types will cause flight problems and will void warranty.
•
AtlasPRO aircraft flying with Quiet Props are only designed to fly with Gen2 batteries. Flying with Gen1
batteries will void the warranty.
1.) Prior to changing a propeller, first take photos of each propeller while still attached to the aircraft.
a) Ensure you know the direction it spins and which side is upright.
2.) Remove the two screws and the pressure plate, then the propeller.
3.) Carefully look at the images you have taken in order to match the propeller direction and orientation.
4.) After replacement of the propeller, ensure that the pressure plate is put back into place correctly. This
means the screw holes with a slight recess are facing upward so that the bolt head can fit inside.
5.) Next, replace the bolts. Tighten using only your finger tips on the driver.
DO NOT OVER-TORQUE, THIS CAN DAMAGE THE ATLASPRO.
