5.0 (Optional) Perform a media check
Follow the instructions below to verify the integrity of the ACE software installation media. This
procedure is useful if you suspect a problem with your DVD. The verification will fail if a file
on the DVD is unreadable due to scratches, marks, etc. The DVD contents should only be veri-
fied once, whether you are cold-starting one or several systems with the same DVD.
Note
: To perform the check, you need the sh shell and md5sum executable files. The devel-
opment workstation provides these resources by default and is the recommended computer
to use for media verification.
To verify DVD contents, follow these steps:
1. Power on the development workstation. As it boots, insert one of the following DVDs
into the disk drive within 10 seconds of powering on:
a. ACE Target: insert the Telestra Target Software Installation DVD.
b. ACE Studio: insert the Telestra Studio Software Installation DVD.
Important
: If the development workstation boots from the hard drive, reboot the sys-
tem, and hold down the Alt key as it restarts.
2. At the boot prompt, enter one of the following:
a.
ACE Target
: type
target mediacheck
, and press Enter.
b.
ACE Studio
: type
studio mediacheck
, and press Enter.
3. The screen displays, “CD Not Found” as the system ejects the Telestra Target Software
Installation DVD or Telestra Studio Software Installation DVD. Remove the DVD.
4. Insert the Red Hat 5 Installation DVD or Red Hat 6 Installation DVD, and select
OK
.
5. The system prompt opens for the DVD media check. To begin the media check, select
Test
. The test takes approximately five to ten minutes to complete.
6. If the Media Check Result reads “PASSED,” select
OK
to continue. If the DVD veri-
fication fails, contact ASTi to receive new software DVDs.
