Service Guidelines
ASCO Model 950 Surge Protective Device (SPD) and Fuse Box
General Information
Unlike most traditional SPDs, this device does NOT feature internal
overcurrent and overtemperature protection that will disconnect affected
surge suppression components at the end of their useful life. This unit
is provided with an external fuse box to provide dedicated OCP. When
the SPD and fuse box are installed according to this manual and the
SPD reaches the end of its useful life the OCP fuses in the fuse box will
disconnect the SPD from the system, but maintain power to the load –
now unprotected. If this situation is undesirable for the application, follow
the instructions for replacing the device.
Service of this unit consists of replacing fuses in the fuse box. If the event
that a fuse needs replacing please contact the factory for troubleshooting
assistance.
THERE ARE NO USER SERVICEABLE PARTS INSIDE THE MAIN SPD
ENCLOSURE. Opening the 12 in. x 12 in. door does not gain access to
serviceable components and will void the limited warranty.
