Operating Environment
Typical Installation Location
The SPD component of this unit uses a NEMA Type 4 (IP66) heavy gauge
steel enclosure. The SPD comes pre-wired. Install SPD with the conduit hub
facing downward to maintain the enclosures rating and avoid water getting
in the connected conduit. The fuse box component uses a NEMA Type 4X
polycarbonate enclosure with 2 – 1 ¼” threaded hubs included to enter and
exit the enclosure. Before installing, ensure that the enclosure type and
application are appropriate with regard to moisture, dirt, excessive dust,
flammable materials or atmospheres, corrosive vapors, etc.
Model 950 is designed for an ambient temperature range of -40°F (-40°C) to
+185°F (+85°C) with a relative humidity of 0% to 95% (non-condensing).
HAZARD OF ELECTRIC SHOCK, EXPLOSION, OR ARC FLASH
• Install the 950 on the load-side of the main overcurrent protection
device. When selecting the installation location verify that there is
enough space for both the fuse box and SPD to be installed and that
their combined weight can be supported.
Failure to follow these instructions will result in death or serious injury.
HAZARD OF ELECTRIC SHOCK, EXPLOSION, OR ARC FLASH
• Pre-plan the installation and read and understand all instructions.
• Apply appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safe
electrical work practices. See NFPA 70E, NOM-029-STPS or CSA Z462.
•
This equipment must only be installed and serviced by qualified electri
-
cal personnel.
•
Turn off all power supplying this equipment before working on or inside
equipment.
•
Always use a properly rated voltage sensing device to confirm power is off.
• Replace all devices, doors and covers before turning on power to this
equipment.
•
This equipment must be effectively grounded per all applicable codes.
Use an equipment-grounding conductor to connect this equipment to the
power system ground.
•
Confirm that the Surge Protective Device voltage rating on the module
or nameplate label is not less than the operating voltage.
• Mount unit in such a way that the SPD component conduit hub is facing
downward (for weather resistance).
Failure to follow these instructions will result in death or serious injury.
