3.
Ready for take-off? Then: Keep the RIGHT CONTROL STICK absolutely CENTERED
(≠ PITCH/ROLL). And push the
LEFT CONTROL STICK completely
UP (= ASCENDING).
Be
aware that all axes have to be controlled directly!
There is direct thrust input, so you must
move the LEFT CONTROL STICK resolutely
UP (= ASCENDING) and much more carefully
DOWN (= DESCENDING), since the UAV is descending self-acting.

LANDING
As airstrip we recommend a free space, where you have at least 10 square meters without obstacles
around the UAV so that all rotors are able to spin freely. You must have an open view into the sky to
enable the AscTec Falcon 8 to receive GPS signal of satellites.
LANDING IN GPS MODE
Landing in GPS MODE is recommended
and you should use it if it is possible. The GPS quality
indicated on your display must show at least 4 bars. Switch into GPS-MODE to activate.
1.
Command the UAV central to your desired landing area in a safe height of at least 3 meters.
2.
Descend slowly to some 1.5 meters height and wait until the UAV stabilized automatically.
3.
Once the UAV holds the position stable, keep the RIGHT CONTROL STICK is CENTERED,
while carefully move the LEFT CONTROL STICK about have way DOWN (= DESCENDING),
to let the UAV come down straight.
4.
Right before touch-down – in about 0.1 meters height – pull the LEFT CONTROL STICK
completely DOWN to keep the UAV on the ground, even if it is bouncing a little.
5.
Stop the motors. For that keep the LEFT CONTROL STICK completely pulled DOWN
(= DESCENDING) while pushing the START/STOP SWITCH for at least one second.
6.
Mission completed.
LANDING IN HEIGHT MODE
Landing in HEIGHT MODE is for skilled pilots only.
1.
Command the UAV above the center of your airstrip in a safe height of at least 3 meters.
2.
Descend slowly to some 1.5 meters height and stabilize the UAV.
3.
Once the UAV is in right position, use the RIGHT CONTROL STICK to compensate horizontal
movements by PITCHING and ROLLING appropriately, and carefully move the LEFT
CONTROL STICK: DOWN (= DESCENDING), to let the UAV come down straight.
LANDING IN MANUAL MODE
Landing in MANUAL MODE is for experts only.
In MANUAL MODE the pilot has to control all axes
directly. There is no automation regulating a pilots fault.
1.
Command the UAV central to your desired landing area in a safe height of at least 3 meters.
2.
Try to descend carefully to some 1.5 meters height and try to stabilize the UAV.
3.
Once the UAV is in right position, use the RIGHT CONTROL STICK to compensate horizontal
movements by PITCHING and ROLLING appropriately, and slowly reduce UP with the LEFT
CONTROL STICK, to let the UAV come down carefully.
