4.3
Performing a NanoScope Procedure
1.
Sterilize and prepare the procedure area on and near the patient insertion site.
2.
Administer local anesthetic to the site and allow the proper amount of time for
the patient to be anesthetized.
3.
Insert the sharp trocar, or the conical obturator fully into cannula.
4.
Optional: Attach a closed stopcock to the cannula.

Fully insert trocar or obturator into cannula as shown.
5.
Administer an incision if needed, and insert the assembled trocar/obturator and
cannula into the patient insertion site using enough force to enter the
joint/cavity.
6.
Remove the trocar/obturator, leaving the cannula in place.
