1.2 Description and operation of product components
1.2.1 General information
The components of the DCN-2 are:

DCN-2 connection cable;
 4E1 DCN-2 board.
1.2.2 DCN-2 Connection cable
The DCN-2 connection cable is designed for connection to DCN-2 of sixteen devices
equipped with E1 interface and for signaling alarms А1, А2. The cable is connected from one
side to the back panel of DCN-2 central exchange by DIN41612 socket, while from the other
side its printed board, having guides for fixing on DIN-rack 35/7,5, is mounted in a 19"
cabinet (rack).
DCN-2 cable is a passive adaptor device, enabling to switch subscriber connection
cables to DIN41612С-96М plug of DCN-2, having high-density contacts.
The external appearance and overall dimensions of DCN-2 cable, connector layout, and
contact identification are given in Appendix А.
1.2.3 4E1 DCN-2 board
4Е1 DCN-2 board is designed to form four Е1 streams. One to four 4E1 boards can be
installed on the mainboard inside the DCN-2 enclosure if required. Each 4Е1 board provides
a connection of up to four DCN-16U exchanges or other devices, connected via Е1 stream.
The external appearance of the 4Е1 board is illustrated in Figure 7.
