A
modal resonator
simulates the resonance of a vibra ng structure by
describing how it absorbs or reinforces certain frequencies (or modes)
in the input signal. The reinforcements at certain modes sustain the os-
cilla ons already present in the excita on sound and give the resul ng
sound its mbre.
