Figure 2. Water Flow
Overview
The HRS Water Filter System is used to reduce carbonate
hardness (temporary hardness/alkalinity) from drinking water.
This will help prevent lime scale deposits from forming in
downstream appliances and equipment such as coffee brewers,
espresso machines, hot and cold water machines, steamers,
and combi-ovens.
Construction
Tap water enters the filter cartridge and passes through a
pre-filter to remove particles, and through activated carbon to
reduce chlorine, taste, and odors (Figure 2).
Water then passes through the ion exchange resin reducing the
carbonate hardness.
Depending on the filter head blend setting, some of the water
that enters the cartridge may bypass the ion exchange resin.
This bypass water passes through the activated carbon for taste
and odor reducton before mixing with the carbonate hardness
reduced water at the outlet.
The filter head is equiped with a built-in blend adjustment. This
allows the proper amount of carbonate hardness reduction
based on local water conditions and equipment requirements.
The supplied carbonate hardness test kit is used to determine
the blend setting.
