MONITOR TESTING
Page 6
The following test procedures should be performed after
installation, after any adjustments, and at each maintenance
examination.
1. Connect a garden hose (3/4-11 1/2 NH) to fitting at back of
oscillating mechanism enclosure.
2. Turn selector valve handle (at side of enclosure) up to
TEST/MANUAL position. See Figure 4.
3. Turn on water supply to garden hose.
4. Check that monitor oscillates within the limits described on
Page 1. (The speed of oscillation will vary with inlet pressure).
If oscillation adjustment is required, refer to Page 11. If speed
control requires adjustment, see Page 10.
5. Turn off water supply to garden hose.
6. Return selector valve handle to RUN position (pointed to back
of enclosure). Secure handle with visual inspection seal. See
Figure 4.
7. By hand, rotate monitor to either side until it ‘‘clicks’’ into posi-
tion.
8. From the bottom of the oscillating mechanism, squeeze
approximately one inch of Dow Corning #4 Silicone Grease
into both open ports on underside of oscillating valve. See
Figure 4A.
ADD DOW CORNING #4
GREASE TO BOTH OPEN PORTS

9. Again by hand, rotate monitor to opposite side until it ‘‘clicks’’
into position.
10. Squeeze approximately one inch of Dow Corning #4 Silicone
Grease into each open port again.
11. Manually rotate monitor back to its original position.
12. Pull release pin from side of monitor inlet base to disengage
monitor from oscillating mechanism. See Figure 1 or 2 for pin
location.
13. Rotate monitor 360° to check for free movement.
NOTICE
If set monitor elevation must be maintained,
mark or measure set elevation before complet-
ing Step 9 so that monitor can be returned to
original elevation setting after testing.
14. For WOM-3 monitor, loosen speed ball handle and raise or
lower tiller bar to check for free movement. See Figure 1.
Return monitor to desired elevation, tighten speed ball handle,
and replace visual inspection seal.
For WOM-4 monitor, use elevation handwheel to raise and
lower monitor while checking for free movement. See Figure
2. Return monitor to desired elevation and replace visual
inspection seal.
15. Realign hole in monitor base with hole in chain sprocket.
Insert release pin fully into aligned holes to engage monitor
base to oscillating mechanism. 2 in. (5.1 cm) pin engagement
for WOM-3 monitor and 3 1/2 in. (8.9 cm) engagement for
WOM-4 monitor. Replace visual inspection seal.
CAUTION
!
Oscillating mechanism contains moving parts that can cause
severe personal injury. Do not operate monitor with cover
removed from enclosure.
