6.6.5 Mo tor oil vis cos ity
Use the SAE vis cos ity chart to choose the right mo tor oil vis cos ity
for the am bi ent tem per a ture:
6.6.6 Check ing the en gine oil level
•
Park the ma chine on a firm, even sur face.
•
Turn off the en gine.
•
Clean the area around the filler port (2) and filler cap/dip stick
(1).
•
Screw out the oil filler cap/dip stick (1) and wipe it off with a
clean, lint-free rag.
•
Guide the filler cap/dip
stick (1) into the filler port - do
NOTscrew it in.
•
Pull the filler cap/dip stick (1) out and check the oil level. If nec -
es sary, add mo tor oil through the filler port (2) un til it reaches
the «
MAX
» mark.
•
Wait 1 to 2 min utes, check again, and cor rect, if nec es sary.
•
Screw the filler cap/dip stick (1) back in and tighten it by hand.

Important
Use only the mo tor oils in di cated. Other mo tor oils may
dam age the en gine and void the war ranty.
Keep the oil free of dirt and sed i ments.
Be
fore open
ing the cap, care
fully clean the area
around the filler cap/dip stick.
Never mix dif fer ent types of mo tor oil. This can dam -
age the mo tor oil's lu bri ca tion prop er ties.
Never over
fill. Over
fill
ing can cause white smoke,
over-ro ta tion and en gine dam age.
Important
Make sure that the en gine, mo tor oil, oil tank and mo -
tor oil fill ing equip ment are free of wa ter and sed i -
ments.
Ob serve the change in ter vals.
Choose the oil vis cos ity based on the am bi ent tem per -
a ture. See di a gram.
Use of mo tor oil ad di tives is not rec om mended.
Environment
Cap ture used oil and dis pose of it in an en vi ron -
men tally sound man ner.
Do not let oil seep into the ground or sewer.
Re place de fec tive seals im me di ately.
