3.Safety
To guarantee optimal performance and safety, AMI Fires and inserts must be fitted by a
qualified installer. Any modifications to the stove by installer or consumer may result in the
safety features not functioning as intended. The stove can be used in Smoke Control Areas
3.1 Fire Prevention Measures
There is a certain element of danger every time you use your inserts. The following
instructions must therefore be followed:
• Ensure that furniture are not too close to the stove within 700 mm.
• Allow the fire to burn out. Never extinguish the flames with water.
• The inset stove becomes hot when lit and may cause burns if touched.
• Only remove ash when the insert is cold. Ash can contain hot embers and should therefore
be placed in a non-flammable container.
• Ash should be placed outdoors or be emptied in a place where it will not present a
potential fire hazard.
3.2 Safety of chimney
The stove installation and connection to a chimney must be accomplished with the current
edition of Building Regulations. We recommend that you consult a local chimney sweep
before the installation to make sure that the chimney is in good condition.
The stove is type approved and must be connected to a chimney for at least 300°C with
diameter of 125 mm. Minimum recommended chimney length is 4 m. Please carefully check
that the chimney is sealed and that there is no leakage.
A flexible flue liner or steel flue certified for use with solid fuel is highly recommended.
In case of chimney fire:
• Close all hatches and vents.
• Keep the firebox door closed.
• Check the loft and cellar for smoke.
• Call the fire service.
Before use after a fire an expert must check the inset stove and the chimney in order to
ensure that it is fully functional.
