2.2 Changing the focus distance (Hotspot IR 10, 20 & 21 Ex only)
The focus distance of the Hotspot IR Ex 10, 20 and 21 linescanner head is factory
set to 2m / 79in. The focus distance can be user-adjusted in the range 1m /
40in. to infinity.
Warning
Do not remove the covers if a hazardous atmosphere may be present.
1)
Ensure that the supply to the scanner is disconnected in the safe area.
2)
Using a 5mm hexagon key, remove the front cover of the scanner (i.e. the
panel
furthest
from the arrow, when viewed from the top).
3)
Remove the four M6 cap head screws and washers. Keep them in a safe
place.

Remove the top screw from the Clamping plate to free the Focusing ring.
5)
In order to the focus the instrument accurately, the focusing mechanism
must first be ‘zeroed’. Rotate the Focusing ring in the direction of the ‘Focus
long’ arrow (i.e. to the right) until it is wound in fully.
6)
Refer to the table below. Rotate the Focusing ring to the left for the number
of turns required to match the focus distance you want to set.
The Following table gives the focus distances that can be achieved by turn-
ing the focusing ring. Each screw hole on the focusing ring is at 0.05 of a
turn.
