Event Viewer tool from the operating system. The event logs are as follows:
Policy Manager adds entries to its own custom event log in the following four categories:
Application
Application Error Records
Policy Manager
Custom Log Error Records
Security
Security Audit Records
System
System Error Records
Information
Routine elaboration on the step taken. Also provides
general, useful information for administrators (for
example, a new administration session starting on the
server).
Warning
Caution that the step taken, or data entered, may lead to
an error. Also indicates that the administrator’s attention is
required to deal with something wrong. A warning event is
generated if the site license has elapsed or the hardware
key is reporting that all licenses are used.
Error
Alert that the step taken, or data entered, has caused a
critical (fatal) error. Also indicates the detection of an
abnormal state (for example, a registered instrument has
become unavailable) during server operation.
Failure Audit
Warning that an unknown user has tried to gain access to
the system. This event is also generated if a recognized
user tries to access a feature that he/she is not authorized
to use.
