The Single Zone Menu
1 Select Action from the main menu, or right-click a specific Zone in the object tree to display the
zone menu.
The menu contains a combination of default MMC menu items and Instrument Group-specific
items. The Instrument-specific items are:
• Set Description…
• Paste
• Delete
• Rename
Note
The Paste option is available only if an instrument or zone has previously been cut.
The Set Description dialog allows you to change the description of an existing zone. There is no
limit to the length of the description; however, it may contain only alphanumeric characters. An edit
box allows you to modify the description.
Action Description
Select Set
Description… Displays the Set Description… dialog box.
Select Paste This item is available only if an instrument has previously been cut.
Pasting an instrument moves the instrument from the source zone to the paste
(or destination) zone. The paste operation is permissible only if the instrument is
from a different zone. The user is prompted to indicate if the default security
settings for the target zone should be propagated to the new zone member. In
addition, the user can choose to cancel the operation entirely.
Select Delete Deletes the instrument zone. All instruments are removed from the zone and
placed in the Unassigned Instruments container. The user is prompted to indicate
if the default security settings for the site (represented by the sites default
instrument) should be propagated to all instruments being moved. A NO answer
makes the individual instruments retain their specific security settings. In
addition, the user can choose to cancel the operation entirely.
Select Rename Overtypes the zone’s name.
Export List… Allows you to save information to a file.
