INSTALLATION
This installation should be made by qualified service personnel
and should conform to all local codes. Take precautions to
avoid unintentional operation by employees and maintenance
personnel working about the premises, by falling objects, by
customers, by building vibration, and by similar causes.
Note: Install an easily accessible, multi-pole power
disconnect near the AD1240 to allow for safe isolation
of the unit during servicing. A low-resistance safety
ground is required.
Before installation, make sure that:
• The contents of the AD1240 shipping carton are correct and
intact (see Shipping Contents list, below).
• The correct tools are available for installing the unit.
• The correct mounting bracket has been chosen to support
the weight of the pan/tilt and camera without vibration (see
Optional Mounting Brackets list, below).
• The complete pan/tilt assembly is mounted and tested in the
workshop before going on site (this can reduce installation
time considerably).
Note: Read the installation instructions thoroughly before
starting the installation.

Location
Carefully consider the location of the AD1240 unit. Take into
consideration the size of the camera housing and intended
viewing arc when deciding the location of the unit.
Mounting
All AD1240 units are supplied with the necessary mounting kit
and cable connectors (refer to shipping contents).
• Make sure the correct bracket for the application is used
and that it is securely mounted to the prime surface.
• Make sure the surface to which the unit is being mounted is
solid.
• Make sure all screws and securing bolts are tight and have
suitable anti-vibration protection.
Refer to the inside rear cover of this manual for the locations
and dimensions of the mounting holes and slots on the
AD1240 Main Body and Side Mount Platform.
ATTACHING AD1240 TO MOUNTING BRACKET
The AD1240 Pan/Tilt unit has eight mounting holes on its
base plate. Refer to the inside rear cover of this manual for
the dimensions of the base plate mounting holes.
The AD1240 may be mounted either in the upright position
or the inverted position, depending on the installation needs.
Refer to Figure 2, page 3 for illustration of the standard
mounting orientation. Refer to Figure 3, page 3, for
illustration of inverted mounting of the Side Mount Platform
and the AD1240 base.
Mount the base plate onto the selected mounting bracket
using four 1/4” hex head screws, washers, and nuts.
1. Push each screw into the slot in the AD1240 base plate,
then into the mounting bracket.
2. Place the supplied cardboard disc between the unit
housing and the base plate to prevent the screws from
being pushed out of the base plate recesses.
3. Place the 1/4” washers over the screws and secure by
tightening the 1/4” nuts.
4. Remove the cardboard disc.
(Mounting instructions are continued on page 4.)
