Pre-Position Model Connections

The following connection instructions are for models with
Preset capability.  This includes the following models:

AD1240/24P  - Preset model
AD1240/24PA  - Preset with AutoPan
AD1240/24PH  - Preset with Heater

The connector for Pan/Tilt and pre-position (Preset) control is
a 13-pin connector located on the rear panel of the AD1240.
On the AutoPan and Heater models, this connector also
supplies the appropriate voltage (24VAC) for these functions.
A mating connector assembly is supplied for connections.

The pre-position feedback is achieved by high-grade servo
potentiometers within the AD1240.  These potentiometers are
used to feedback positional information from the AD1240 to
the external control system (e.g., Receiver/Driver).

• Check the polarity of the reference voltage connected to the

AD1240 to insure that movement of the unit causes the
feedback voltage to operate in the correct polarity for the
control system, i.e., panning right increases the pan wiper
voltage, tilt up increases the tilt wiper voltage.

Note: If  the polarity is not correct, the unit will not

find its correct PRESET position.

• If a correction is necessary, reverse the polarity of the

reference supply connections.

Refer to the following table and Figure 8 for the AD1240
preset model pin definitions.

Shielded cable is recommended for most applications with the
AD1240 preset models.

* For inverted mounting, these pin functions are reversed

(2 is Left, 3 is Right, 4 is Down, and 5 is Up).

** Pin 6 is the voltage supply pin for either the AutoPan

voltage (model AD1240/24PA) or the Heater voltage
(model AD1240/24PH).  This signal must be 24VAC
±10%, with pin 1 as the AC common.

*** Pan & Tilt Error Supply connections and Pan and Tilt

Error Return connections are normally connected in
parallel to a single error Supply voltage and Error Return
voltage respectively..
