Assembly

NOTE

: Prior to assembly, certain compo-

nents require lubrication in clean oil.
Refer to 

Table 4 

for details.

Upper Rod Seal

NOTE

: Refer to 

Figure 5 

for a section

view of the Pump Tube Assembly.

  1. Position Body (

16

) small diameter upward.

  2. Install and seat Lower Bearing (

15

) [small diameter 

first], Seal (

14

) [lips downward], and Upper Bearing 

(

13

) into the Body.

  3. Install and align Upper Mounting (

12

) onto the Body 

as required.

  4. Install Screws (

9

) and Lock Washers (

10

) that secure 

the Upper Mounting to the Body.
• Tighten the Screws securely in a crisscross pattern.

  5. Install Packing Screw (

11

) into the Body.

• Tighten the Screw securely with the use of the 

torque bar. See 

Figure 3-B

.

  6. Install and seat Gasket (

) into the Body.

• Hold the Gasket in place with a coating of grease.

Rod and Pump Tube Assembly

   7. Screw Lower Piston Rod (

) [with Loctite 222] into 

Upper Piston Rod (

19

) as required.

  8. Clamp the flats of Piston (

31

) into a soft-jaw vise.

• Make sure the Piston bore points upward.

  9. Install Retainer (

32

) [flange end first] into the Pis-

ton.
• Make sure the Retainer centers and seats properly.

10. Install Spring (

) into the Piston.

11. Install Ball (

) into the Spring.

12. Install Washer (

) onto Adapter and Insert

 Assembly (

).

13. Screw the Adapter and Insert Assembly (with Loctite 

222) into the Piston.
• Tighten the Adapter and Insert Assembly securely.

14. Remove the Piston assembly from the vise.

15. Install Washer (

) into Valve Body (

44

).

16. Install and seat Seal (

43

) [heel end first] into the Valve 

Body.
• Use care not to damage the Seal.

17. Install additional Washer (

42

) and Screw (

) into the 

Valve Body.
• Do not tighten or seat the Screw.

18. Lubricate Primer Rod (

) with Grease.

19. Install the Valve Body assembly (Screw upward) onto 

the upper end of the Primer Rod.
• Use care not to damage the Seal.
• Tighten the Screw into the Valve Body securely.

20. Install Guide Washer (

) onto the upper end of the 

Primer Rod.

21. Screw the Primer Rod assembly into the Adapter and 

Insert Assembly until the roll pin holes align.

CAUTION

Support the Primer Rod and the Adapter and Insert
Assembly during Roll Pin installation. Damage to
components can occur.

22. Install Roll Pin (

• Use a small hammer.

23. Install Valve Seat (

) [small diameter first], Plate (

[convex surface first], and Stop Nut (

47

) onto the lower 

end of the Primer Rod.
• Tighten the Stop Nut securely. Place a small punch into 

the hole of the Primer Rod to prevent its rotation.

24. Secure Bung Adapter (

) [threads downward} onto the 

internally-threaded end of Adapter (

39

).

• Secure the Bung Adapter in a vise to align the Adapter 

horizontally.

25. Install Gasket (

) into the internally-threaded end of the 

Adapter.
