26. Install the Primer Rod and Piston assembly
(Piston end first) into the Adapter.
• Center and seat all components properly. Pull on the
Piston as necessary. Use care to ensure the Gasket
does not move.
27. Install the additional Gasket (

) onto the Valve Seat.
28. Temporarily screw Primer Body (

) into the
Adapter.
• Do not apply Loctite 222 at this time.
Externally-Threaded End of Adapter
29. Install steel Spacer (

) into the externally-threaded
end of the Adapter.
• Make sure the Spacer centers and seats properly.
30. Install Gasket (

) over the Spacer and onto the
Adapter.
31. Position Barrel Assembly (

) with the large diameter
pointing upward.
32. Install Wear Ring (
27
) into the Barrel Assembly.
33. Install and seat Seal (
28
) [lip end first] into the Barrel
Assembly.
34. Install Bearing (

) into the Barrel Assembly.
CAUTION
Use care installing the Barrel Assembly over the
threads of Piston (31). Damage to the Seal can
occur.
35. Install the Barrel Assembly (large diameter first) onto
Piston (

).
• Make sure the Barrel Assembly seats properly
against Spacer (
30
).
36. Install Gasket (

) onto the Barrel Assembly.
37. Screw lower Coupling (

) onto Lower Piston Rod
(

) until the Spring Clip holes align.
38. Install Spring Clip (

).
39. Screw the Rod and Coupling assembly onto the Piston
until the Spring Clip holes align.
40. Install the Spring Clip.
IMPORTANT: If a primer is used with Loc-
tite 222, the curing time is greatly reduced.
41. Screw Pump Tube (

) onto Adapter (

[with Loctite 222].
• Do not tighten at this time.
42. Unscrew Primer Body (

or

) from the Adapter
43. Screw the Primer Body [with Loctite 222] back into
the Adapter.
• Do not tighten at this time.
44. Move and secure the Bung Adapter to the upper end of
the Pump Tube.
• Secure the pump assembly once again horizontally
in the vise.
45. Screw Jam Nut (

) onto the Pump Tube.
46. Lubricate the Upper Piston Rod assembly with grease.
CAUTION
Use care installing the Body and Upper Mounting
assembly. Damage to Seal (14) can occur.
47. Install (with a slight twisting motion), and screw the
Body and Upper Mounting assembly onto the Pump
Tube.
48. Push on Plate (

) to expose the Upper Piston Rod
from Packing Screw (

) as necessary.
Step for Models 7889-6 and 7889-C
49. Place a wrench or other suitable tool into the slot of
Primer Body (
48
).
• Tighten all the components of the assembly securely.
• Crush all Gaskets.
Step for Model 7889-B Only
50. Place a pipe wrench onto Primer Body (

).
• Tighten all the components of the assembly securely.
• Crush all Gaskets.
51. Tighten Jam Nut (

52. Screw upper Coupling (

) onto the Rod until the
Spring Clip holes align.
53. Install lower Spring Clip (
