firmware version 2.2 these LEDs indicate that the corresponding
section has recognized the format of the video signal at the
selected port (electrical or optical).
SDI A/B STATUS FAIL: Red. These LEDs light up whenever the SDI A/B STATUS OK LEDs
turn off. These LEDs blink whenever CRC or EDH errors are
detected. If an SFP transmitter module is installed and an error in
the laser is detected then these LEDs will blink along with the
OPTICAL LED.
SDI A/B OPTICAL: Green. When an SFP receiver module is installed these LEDs light
up to indicate that it is being used as an optical input port. If no
SFP module is installed then these LEDs remain off. Up to and
including version 2.1 of the firmware these LEDs light up to
indicate that an SFP transmitter module is distributing a video
signal.
DVI A/B STATUS OK: Green. These LEDs light up to indicate that the monitor connected
to the unit can accept the format of the video signal being
delivered through the DVI connector.
DVI A/B STATUS FAIL: Red. These LEDs light up to indicate that the monitor connected to
the unit cannot accept the format of the video signal being sent
over the DVI connector. If no monitor is detected then these LEDs
and the DVI STATUS OK LEDs located next to them both remain
off.
4.2. Functional description
The HVM0002C01 provides several different functional modes that depend upon how it
is configured and the SFP module installed.
From the moment the unit is powered on until a valid video signal is detected at the
selected input the system operates in generator mode. In generator mode a free-running
video signal whose pattern and format are set with the control software is delivered via
the DVI output, via the electrical SDI interface (if it has been configured as an output)
and via the optical SDI interface (when an SFP transmitter module has been installed).
The unit comes from the factory pre-programmed to deliver a SMPTE 100% color bar
pattern in 576i50.
The electrical input is selected by default for both sections, even when an SFP receiver
module is installed. The control software can be used to change the input selected to the
optical interface or if desired an input from the other section of the unit.
When a valid video signal in a recognized format is detected at the selected input the
unit transmits the video via the DVI output and via any available SDI outputs - electrical
if configured as such or optical if an SFP transmitter module is installed.
Using the multiplexing ability of the HVM0002C01 the electrical or optical input from
24
