3.6.6. Control and supervision connections
Connection between the module and a computer is done via a USB cable supplied
with the equipment with a Type A connector on the computer side and a mini-Type B
connector on the HVM0002C01 side. The first time that the module is connected to a
computer it is necessary to install a driver that allows the operating system to use the
USB connection of the module as a standard serial port. This driver can be
downloaded from the Albalá Ingenieros website, along with the installation
instructions for the computer.
The general purpose input and output (GPIO) connections are located on two terminal
block connectors found on the front panel of the unit. Connection to these signals
depends upon the application and the equipment to which they are connected.
Equivalent circuits for the GPIs and GPOs are detailed in the following section, and the
electrical characteristics section lists the switching thresholds, maximum voltage and
maximum current levels for these interfaces.
