ASSEMBLY
WARNING! Danger if assembly is not
carried out completely!
Operation of an incom-
pletely assembled appliance can result in serious
injury.
■
Only operate the appliance when it is fully as-
sembled.
■
Check that all safety and protective devices
are in place and functioning correctly before
switching on.
4.1
Setting up the machine
1. Prepare a level and firm location.
2. Set up the machine horizontally and safe
from the risk of flooding.
Note:
The machine must be protected from
rain and direct exposure to water.
4.2
Connecting the suction line (06)
1. Select the length of the suction line in such a
way that the pump cannot run dry. The suc-
tion line must always be at least 30 cm under
the water surface.
2. Connect the suction line (06/1). Ensure that
the connection is tight, but do not damage
the thread.
Note:
We recommend using flexible lines at
the pump inlet (06/2) to prevent mechanical
pressure or tension being exerted on the
pump.
3. Always lay the suction line with an upward
gradient.
4.3
Mounting the pressure line (05)
1. Connect the pressure line (05/1). Ensure that
the connection is tight, but do not damage
the thread.
2. Open all shut-off devices (valves, spray noz-
zles, water cock) in the pressure line.
5
START-UP
5.1
Checks before operation
Always perform a visual check prior to starting
operation. Do not operate the equipment if the
operating and/or fastening parts are loose, dam-
aged, or worn.
Check the general condition of the engine:
■
Signs of an oil or petrol leak on the outside
and underside of the engine.
■
Signs of damage
■
All nuts and bolts are tight.
■
All guards and covers are fitted.
■
Fuel level
■
Engine oil level
■
Air filter insert
5.2
Filling with fuel
WARNING! Danger of explosion and fire.
Petrol and oil are highly flammable. Fire can lead
to serious injuries.
■
Only refill petrol and oil in the open and never
in the vicinity of naked flames or sources of
heat.
■
Only use appropriate containers to store pet-
rol.
■
Only refuel outdoors.
■
Do not smoke when refuelling.
■
Do not open the tank cap when the engine is
running or hot.
■
Renew the tank or tank cap if damaged.
■
Always close the tank lid firmly.
■
If petrol has leaked out:
■
Do not start the engine.
■
Avoid start attempts.
■
Clean the equipment.
IMPORTANT! Danger of engine damage.
A
low oil level can cause engine damage.
■
Fill the engine with oil before operating for
the first time.
■
Check the oil level at regular intervals.
■
If the level is low, top up with clean oil.
5.2.1
Filling with oil (07, 08)
1. Unscrew the oil dipstick (07/1) and insert the
filling aid.
2. Fill with oil.
3. Remove the oil filling neck and screw the oil
dipstick back in.
Oil recommendations:
■
Engine oil is a decisive factor for the perfor-
mance and lifetime of the engine. Use an en-
gine oil which fulfils the requirements for API
service class SF or higher (or equivalent).
■
Check the API service label on the oil con-
tainer in order to ensure that the letters SF or
those of a higher (or equivalent) class are
present.
■
SAE 10W-30 is recommended for general
use. The recommended operating tempera-
ture range for this engine is 0 °C to 40 °C.
