Restrictor and Column Installation
Restrictors and the column exit are connected to the splitter assembly using
internal nuts and SilTite ferrules. Install fittings on the column exit and one
end of each restrictor as described in
“Swaging SilTite Ferrules”
on the CD.
Install the column

Hang the analytical column on the column clips. The clips hold the outside
of the wire basket that supports the column. Adjust the clips if necessary.

Connect the column to the inlet fitting.
Connect the splitter

Preswage the SilTite ferrules to the restrictors and columns. See
“Swaging
SilTite Ferrules”
on the CD for details.

Connect the restrictors to the connectors on the splitter (
).
Finger-tighten until just snug, then tighten with a wrench an additional 15°.
Install the back restrictor first.

Connect the restrictors to the detector inlet fittings. See your GC
documentation for details.

Connect the column exit to the splitter. Tighten as you did the restrictors.
C A U T I O N
Arrange the tubing (restrictors and column) so that it does not touch the oven walls.
This could create a cold spot.
