Setting Up GPIB
Connect the prin ter as explained in the service man ual.
Setting the GPIB Address DIP Switch
Set the prin ter DIP switches as sho wn in Figure 6-3 . The HP 8510C uses address 01 as the
default GPIB address for prin ters. Figure 6-3 sho ws prop er switch settings (with the GPIB
address set to 01). If y ou are using Metric pap er sizes, refer to the prin ter man ual for the
appropriate switch settings.

Preparing the Printer for Use
1. Load the pap er, then turn the prin ter ON.
On HP QuietJet, QuietJet PLUS, and PaintJet Printers (not XL):
2. Mov e the P ap er Adv ance Knob (on the right-hand side of the prin ter) to adv ance the
pap er. Set the top of the page so it is just ab o v e the inkjet prin t head. These prin ters
automatically set T op of F orm to the curren t p osition when the pap er Adv ance Knob is
mov ed.
