5 Mounting
5.1 Preparing the tank
5.1.1 Tanks whose interstitial space is still (partially) filled with leak
detection fluid
1. Provide a collecting container (bucket with a capacity of at least 10 l), a
vacuum pump (min. 600 mbar, minimum capacity 1.5 m
3
/hour) to
remove the liquid from the interstitial space.
2. Disconnect the connection line of the leak detection fluid container from
the tank.
3. Collect the escaping leak detection fluid in the bucket.
4. Dismount the test valve, the connection line and the leak detection fluid
container with the plug-in probe.
5. Clean the 1" threaded sockets for the leak detection fluid container and
the test valve and mount and seal suitable adapters and hose connec-
tion pieces so that the suction line and measuring line of the product
can be connected.
6. Plug two hoses onto the hose connectors and seal them (suction hose
pump, suction hose tank).
7. Leave the hose connection for the measuring line open for the time
being so that air can be admitted.
8. Suck the leak detection fluid from the interstitial space into the carboy
until the liquid column becomes unstable and air is withdrawn.
9. Remove the maximum possible volume of liquid from the interstitial
space. Withdraw at least the following volume:
