VMF E18 ELECTRONIC EXPANDABLE THERMOSTAT BOARD FOR INVERTER FAN COILS
The VMF-E18 accessory is an advanced
electronic thermostat kit for use with
Inverter fan coils. It requires an interface
inside the fan coil (VMF-E2) or on the wall
(VMF-E4).
VMF-E18 allows you to manage:
• An E18-type thermostat board inserted
in a protective box and easily applied
to the side of the fan coil. The E18-type
thermostat board has a protective fuse,
a dip-switch for configuration, and
connectors for connection with:
- the power supply,
- the earthing,
- the valve control,
- the Inverter command module power
supply,
- the ambient air temperature probe,
- the water temperature probe,
- the auxiliary water temperature probe,
- the control panel (user interface),
- the presence sensor,
- the external contact,
- the microswitch contact connected to the
fan coil fin,
- the central supervisor system serial (VMF-E5),
- the fan coil network serial (TTL).
• Three fan coil speeds in manual mode.
• Continuous ventilation and thermostat con-
trol, by controlling the valves.
• Automatic fan mode with BRUSHLESS motor
depending on the load.
• Season visualisation.
• Visualisation of alarms and ventilation
request.
• Up to two ON/OFF 2- or 3-way valves.
• The switch-on of an electric heater.
• A germicidal lamp.
• Plasmacluster filter.
• A water temperature probe, with minimum
and maximum temperature and changeover
functions.
• An additional water probe (accessory) for con-
trolling the second coil (4-pipe systems).
• Season change according to the water or air
temperature (4-pipe systems).
• Input for “external contact”. This is a digital
input with the following logic: When open,
the thermostat works normally; When closed,
the fan coil is switched off.
• Microswitch for fin contact.
• Anti-freeze function.
• Presence sensor to enable the “sleep” function
from an external contact (reduction of ambi-
ent set-point by 2 or 5 degrees, depending on
the settings, if a room is unoccupied).
• Input for supervision serial. In networks made
up of several fan coils subdivided into inde-
pendent temperature areas, the VMF-E18 area
regulator allows communication with a cen-
tral system supervisor (VMF-E5).
• Input for local serial. Communication with
other thermostats, via a dedicated serial
based on the TTL logic standards.

• VMF: Variable Multi Flow System

and domestic hot water production.

component of a hydronic system,
both local and centralised, through
communication between the various
system components, managing the
per formance without neglecting
the end user's request for comfort at
any time, but reaching it as efficiently
as possible, with consequent energy
savings.
Summing up the advantages of a such
an innovative control with the flexibility
of a hydronic system, you achieve a
more effective and efficient alternative
to variable refrigerant volume (VRF)
systems.
The VMF system is extremely flexible,
to the extent that it offers various
control and management steps, also
expandable at different times:
1) Control of a single fan coil.
2) Control of a micro-zone (one MASTER
fan coil and up to 5 SLAVE fan coils).
3) Control of a network consisting
of several independent zones (one
MASTER fan coil and up to 5 SLAVE fan
coils per each zone).
4) Control of a fan coil network, plus heat
pump management (if compatible with
the VMF system).
5) Control of a fan coil network, of the
heat pump and management of the
domestic hot water system (VMF-ACS).
6) Control of a fan coil network, heat
pump, domestic hot water production
and additional pumps (up to 12 using 3
additional VMF-CRP modules).
7) Control of a fan coil network, heat
pump, domestic hot water production,
additional pumps and management of
heat recovery unit, up to 3, (with the
possibility of managing up to 3 VMF-
VOC probes) or a boiler.
• The VMF system can control and
manage, via a VMF-E5 panel, up to 64
zones, consisting of a MASTER fan coil
and up to 5 SLAVE fan coils connected to
each MASTER, for a total of 384 fan coils
• In addition to the centralised control
provided by the VMF-E5 panel, the
MASTER fan coils must be equipped
with a local control interface; this
interface can be mounted on board the
fan coil (VMF-E2 / VMF-E2H) or on a wall
panel (VMF-E4)
• Via panel VMF-E5 it is possible to control
several functions, among which:
- Identify the various zones by giving
each one a name that characterises it
- Control and set the ON-OFF function
and the temperature setting of each
zone
- Set and manage the temperature
setting of the heat pump
- Time slot programming
• Simple installation of the fan coil
network thanks to the SELF-DETECTION
function of the MASTER fan coils
The VMF-E18 kit is composed of:
• WMT21: Electronic thermostat with LCD
display (wall installation).
• SWAI: Water temperature probe for
WMT21 control panels. Cable length
L=2m.
