Start-up of the device/Introduction
• Please read the operating instructions carefully before
using the radio recorder for the fi rst time!
•
Select a suitable location for the radio recorder, such
as a dry, fl at, non-slip surface on which it is easy to
operate the machine.
•
Ensure that the radio recorder is suffi ciently ventila-
ted!
Power supply
•
Insert the mains plug (e.g. battery compartment (34))
into a correctly installed 230 V, 50 Hz power socket.
Ensure that the voltage is the same as that indicated
on the model identifi cation plate.
•
Close the battery compartment, making sure not to
trap the mains lead.
•
Please ensure that during mains operation the
POWER switch (31) on the back is turned to AC, and
during battery operation to DC.
•
After you have inserted the plug into the socket the
device switches to the STANDBY mode and the
control lamp (2) lights up.
Inserting the Batteries
(not supplied)
•
Open the battery compartment (34) on the bottom.
•
Insert 8 batteries of type UM2/R14 1,5V. Ensure that
the polarity is correct (see the fl oor of the battery
compartment)!
•
Close the battery compartment, making sure not to
trap the mains lead.
•
Please turn the POWER switch to DC during battery
operation.
•
If you do not use the machine for a prolonged period,
remove the mains plug from the socket and remove
the batteries in order to prevent battery acid from
leaking.
If there is a power cut or the mains plug has been remo-
ved from the power socket, the settings will be retained if
the power reserve batteries are inserted. Insert 2 micro-
batteries of type LR 3 “AAA” 1.5V.
Remote Control Batteries
(not supplied)
•
Open the lid of the battery compartment on the back
of the remote control.
•
Insert 2 microbatteries of type LR 3 “AAA” 1.5V.
Ensure that the polarity is correct (see the fl oor of the
battery compartment)!
•
If the remote control is not used for a prolonged pe-
riod, remove the batteries in order to prevent battery
acid leaking.
•
Always replace the complete set of batteries. Do not
replace just one battery.
Warning
: batteries are not to be disposed of together
with domestic wastes. Dispose of the used batteries at
the relevant collection bin or at your dealer’s.
Never throw batteries into the fi re.
CD deck transport protection
Please open the CD compartment (7) by pressing the
OPEN/CLOSE button (8). Remove the transport protec-
tion from the CD player if present before use.
General Operation
POWER (1/36)
When the device switches to ready-for-operation mode
the control lamp (2) goes off, or the device switches to
standby mode. Unplug the device.
VOLUME (28/52)
This is used to set the individual volume. The letters
„VOL“ and a fi gure appear in the display (6). This corres-
ponds to the volume that has been set as far as „VOL 30“
or „VOLUME 00“.
PHONES (33)
When the plug of a set of headphones is inserted into
the headphone socket on the back of the device the
loudspeakers are switched off. If your plug does not fi t,
please use an appropriate adapter.
BEAT CUT (32)
When recording from AM transmitters there may be inter-
ference from frequency overlays. It may be impossible to
remove these by turning the BEAT CUT switch.
Infrared remote control
This is used for operating the device without a cable from
a distance of up to 5 metres. If the range decreases, the
batteries have to be changed. Please ensure that there
is nothing blocking the direct line of vision between the
remote control and the
IR
infrared receiver (3) on the
device.
USB Connexion (35)
This device has been developed in accordance with the
latest technical developments in the USB fi eld. Unfortu-
nately the large number of different types of USB storage
media on offer today makes it impossible to guarantee full
compatibility with all USB storage media.
•
In order to switch on the device please press the
POWER switch (1/36).
•
Now press the FUNCTION button (30/42) to select
the CARD-USB mode.
•
Connect a USB storage medium.
• Press

(10/46) to play back the music data.
