Putting into use
Before using for the fi rst time
1. Remove the packaging. Open the deep fryer by pres-
sing the button (11). The frying basket is in the deep
fryer.
2. It is highly recommended to clean the lid, casing,
container and frying basket as described in CLEA-
NING.
3. Unwind the mains lead completely.
Electrical connection
• Make sure that the device voltage (see name plate)
and the line voltage match.
• The mains plug should only be inserted into a cor-
rectly installed 230 V ~ 50 Hz socket with earthing
contact.
Connected Wattage
The total power consumption of this device can be up
to 2000 W. With this connected load a separate supply
line protected by a 16 A household circuit breaker is
recommended.
CAUTION: OVERLOAD:
• If you use extension leads, these should have a
cable cross-section of at least 1.5 mm
2
.
• Do not use any multiple sockets, as this device is
too powerful.
Useful hints for use
1. Always remove the food remaining in the oil (e.g.
pieces of French fries). After the device has been used
several times you should change the oil.
Use high quality frying oil or frying grease.
2. Fats and oils must be heatable to high temperatures.
Do not use margarine, olive oil or butter: they are not
fi t for frying, because they start to smoke already at
low temperatures.
We recommend the use of liquid frying oil.
WARNING:
Please note this important information if you
intend to use fat!
If you use fat, please divide it up into small pieces.
Turn the thermostat to a low temperature and add
the pieces slowly. Once the fat has melted and the
correct oil level is reached you can set the desired
temperature on the thermostat.
Under no circumstances should you place the fat
in the deep frying basket!
3. In order to reduce the acrylamide content of food
containing starch (potatoes, cereals) the temperature
during deep-fat frying should not exceed 170° C (or
possibly 175° C). Furthermore, the frying time should
be kept as short as possible and the food only fried
until it turns golden yellow.
4. Choose the right frying temperature and check the
conditions of the food to be fried. A rule of thumb
is that pre-fried foods require a higher temperature
than raw foods.
5. Do not carry or move the deep fryer if the oil or grease is
still hot.
6. When frying dough-like foods scrape off the excess
dough and put the pieces carefully into the oil.
7. The deep frying basket must not be more than two-
thirds full. Do not overfi ll the basket.
8. Rub dry humid foods with a cloth before frying.
CAUTION:
In the case of foodstuff s which are too moist (e.g.
frozen chips etc.) large amounts of foam may form,
which under certain circumstances may cause the
oil to overfl ow.
9. After use, unplug the deep fryer.
10. If you should switch on your deep fat fryer by acci-
dent when there is no oil or fat in it, the overheating
protection device will switch on automatically. The
device is then no longer operable. Remove the plug
from the socket.
Use
1. Make sure that the appliance is unplugged and
switched off (The control lamps are off .).
2. Open the deep fryer by pressing the button (11).
3. In order to remove the deep fryer, place your hands
in the tub and pull the handle (13) upwards until it
locks in place.
4. Fill oil or fat into the frying fat container. (maximum
3 l). The fi lling level must be located between the
minimum and the maximum level.
5. Insert the plug in a duly installed 230 V/50 Hz pro-
tective contact socket.
6. Set the desired temperature on the temperature
regulator (10). With the timer (7) you can control the
operating time. Then close the lid during the heating-
up phase. The power on switch (8) and the HEATING
control lamp (9) light up.
