A.5 RAID 5 (Striping with Parity Information
Distributed in All Hard Drives)
Striping with parity is a method of providing complete data redundancy
that requires only a fraction of the storage capacity than mirroring for
storing redundant information.
In a system configured under RAID 5 (which requires at least three
SCSI drives), all data and parity blocks are divided between the drives
in such a way that if any single drive is removed (or fails), the data on
the missing drive can be reconstructed using the data on the remaining
drives.
