Installing the SH9HU, SH7HU, SH7HU-R and
1HU Equipment Shelves
This section provides procedures for rack-mounting an FSP 3000R7 9HU shelf
(SH9HU), 7HU shelf (SH7HU, SH7HU-R) and 1HU equipment shelf. The 1HU
equipment shelf may be a SH1HU-F/2DC, SH1HU-HP/2DC, SH1HU-R or
SH1HU-R/PF.
Procedures for earthing the shelves, installing the power cables and testing
earthing and DC power connections are also provided along with relevant safety
and equipment precautions. This section contains the following subsections:
Fitting the ESD Connection Adaptor to a Shelf Bracket
Fitting the 9HU, 7HU Shelves and 1HU Equipment Shelves with ETSI or NEBS
Brackets
Mounting an FSP 3000R7 Shelf into a Rack or Cabinet
Testing the Earth and Power Connection
Fitting the ESD Connection Adaptor to a Shelf Bracket
This subsection describes the procedure that must be followed in order to fit the
ESD connection adaptor to a 19-inch, NEBS or ETSI bracket of a 7HU Shelf.
All shelf modules are ESD-sensitive devices. Therefore, physically working with
modules of a running shelf, requires earthing with a wrist strap connected to the
ESD connection adaptor fitted to the shelf bracket. This avoids possible ESD
damages to sensitive circuit boards of the modules.
It is assumed that you are familiar with ESD-prevention precautions that should
be taken to avoid ESD damage to the equipment.
CAUTION
Only Service Personnel are allowed to fit the ESD connection
adaptor.
Risk of equipment damage due to electrostatic discharge!
To avoid possible ESD damages to sensitive circuit boards, do not
remove the shelf from anti-static packaging until you are ready for
fitting the ESD connection adaptor to the appropriate bracket.
Observe standard precautions for handling shelves containing
ESD-sensitive devices.
