OPTI-6100 Access and Maintenance

The following topics describe how to use OPTI-APPS to perform essential maintenance on

OPTI-6100 NEs:

•

“Configuring a GNE as an NE”

•

“Remote Menu Access”

•

•

Configuring a GNE as an NE

An OPTI-6100 GNE is also configurable by OPTI-APPS. However, OPTI-APPS does not

perform operations on GNEs, only on NEs. To use OPTI-APPS to configure, monitor, and

maintain an OPTI-6100 GNE, the GNE can be built as an NE behind itself.
First, build the GNE according to

“Add, Configure, and Connect: Gateway Network Element”

on page 15.
Next, build the

same

OPTI-6100 as an NE subtended from that GNE, using the instructions in

“Add, Configure, and Connect: Remote Network Element”

This NE version of the OPTI-6100 can report alarms, receive software upgrades, and complete

all other OPTI-APPS-supported functions, just like any other OPTI-6100 NE, even though it is

functioning as a GNE in the network.
