“TWINtest” dual-wavelength
mode
If your attenuation measurements require a
source signal at
two
wavelengths, you can
operate the OLS-5 as a dual-wavelength source.
This is known as TWINtest mode.
In TWINtest mode, the LEDs for 850 nm and
1300 nm transmit in alternation at 4 s intervals.
Special modulation frequencies are applied to the
850 nm and 1300 nm signals. Unlike the
modulation frequencies described in Sec. 4.2,
these frequencies are not visible externally.
Set TWINtest mode as follows

Tip:
In conjunction with the OLP-5 Power
Meter, you can make virtually
simultaneous attenuation measurements
at two wavelengths. This is useful with
wavelength division multiplex systems, for
instance. The calibrated wavelengths of
850 nm and 1300 nm are set automatical
