4-1 Start-up
PULSE-STARTING THE MOTOR
•
If the motor is turning in the proper direction, pulse-start the motor, regardless of
desired speed.
•
Pulse-start the motor by providing full current (60Hz) to the motor through the VFD.
Allow the motor to run and full speed before adjusting the VFD for the desired feed
rate.
4-2 Operation Procedures
Never reach beyond the infeed entrance while the machine is running.
To clear a jam, refer to the procedure for clearing a jam, which is Sect. 5-1: Clearing a Jam.
Avoid excessive feed rates. Feed rates in excess of rated capacity may cause the machine to
stall or jam.
4-3 Air Cylinder Adjustment
The feed nip should be run at the minimum air pressure necessary to pull the web into the
granulator. The chart below shows the load across every inch of a 50” wide web for a given
air pressure. If too much air pressure is used, the operator runs the risk of embedding the
knurled pattern into the material and causing the web to stick to the rolls and wrap them.
