INTERFACING WITH OTHER DATA BASES
To be universally compatible with all other databases, spreadsheets, and word processors, the data is stored in a text file named
Log.txt. Each record (row) is the results of one test, including the employee’s name, ID, test date, test time, test results, and
resistance values. Each of these fields is separated by a comma, so the file is actually in .CSV (Comma Separated Value) format.
Importing and exporting to common databases is explained below.
The software can directly read the employee names from a company data base – see accessing names from a remote data base in
the setup section.
Importing EsdTest data files (ie Log.txt, Names.txt, Report.txt, etc.) to Excel:
To import Log.txt, Names.txt, Report.txt, Exceptions.txt etc. into Excel:
Either just copy or rename the file with a .csv suffix (ie copy LOG.TXT file to LOG.CSV) and open it directly with Excel.
Or open the .txt file using the Excel import wizard:

Open Excel

Click Files

Click Open

In the lower right of the file dialog menu select “All File Types”.

Browse to the desired file (eg Log.txt) and click on it and click OK

The Excel text Import Wizard should appear. Choose Delimited. Click Next (do NOT click Finish).

Choose Comma (make sure “tab” and “space” are NOT selected)

Click on Finish
