Hardware Installation and Configuration

Hardware Installation

1. Ensure that you have got the all of the hardware requirements of Acer’s

cluster server, and refer to the architecture of Acer’s Cluster to build up
the cluster.

2. Connect the private network between two nodes by using the STP cross-

over cable.

3. You must insert another NIC on each node and connect them to the

Public Network (Hub).

4. Connect the External SCSI Cables between two Hosts and the AcerAltos

RS700.

Hardware Configuration

1. Host configuration

a) Power on each AcerAltos Server and press <Ctrl>+<A> for the

SCSISelect™ Utility when the screen shows this message:
"Adaptec AIC-7880 Ultra/Ultra W BIOS V 1.x".

b) Click the "Configure/View Host Adapter Setting" and choose the

SCSI channel 1(which connects to the AcerAltos RS700).

c) Enable the Host Adapter SCSI Termination function.

d) Enable the Multiple LUN Support function in the Advanced

Configuration options.

e) Set the host’s SCSI ID to 6 for SCSI channel 1 of Host 1. Set the

host’s SCSI ID to 7 for SCSI channel 1 of Host 2.
