3.2 Why Perform Control Tests
Performing a control test lets you know the meter and test strips are working properly to give reliable blood
sugar test results. You should perform a control test when:
• You open a new box of test strips.
• You left the test strip container open.
• You want to check the meter and test strips.
• Your test strips were stored in extreme temperatures and/or humidity.
• You dropped the meter.
• Your test result does not agree with how you feel.
• You want to check if you are testing correctly.
