location for installation can be found in
the application standard for smoke
alarms, DIN 14676.
EQUIPMENT LIFE
At least every 10 years replace the
smoke detector.
POSSIBLE CAUSES FOR A FALSE ALARM
• Very intense cooking, water and/or
roasting vapours, air freshener,
perfume or insecticide sprays,
pollen, fine dust, dust from con-
struction or grinding work have
entered the unit.
• The smoke alarm is being affected
by extreme temperature fluctua-
tions or very strong electromag
netic radiation in immediate proxi-
mity to the unit.
• An alarm can only be activated by
cigarette smoke if the smoke enters
the unit directly or in very high
concentrations. The unit should be
protected from the abovemen-
tioned environmental conditions to
prevent a false alarm.
• One or more very small insects or other
small organisms have broken through
GB
sary and is not technically possible.
Please protect the unit from the
following, particularly during renova-
tion work (but also in general):
moisture, cold, heat, fine dust, grease
vapours, nicotine and paint fumes,
adhesives, dirt and coating materials
such as wall paint.
In the event of renovation, construction
or grinding work, detach the smoke alarm
from the magnetic mount by gently
pulling it in a downwards direction and
keep it in
a protected place. After the work
has been completed, remember to
replace the smoke alarm (by clicking
into place the magnetic mount.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
The smoke alarm is only able to provide
a warning, and potentially save lives, if
it is located in its intend-
ed installation position, is free from dirt
and damage and is activated.
TESTING AND MAINTENANCE
The smoke detector automatically checks
that it is operating correctly once a
minute. It also automatically readjusts
the sensitivity of its detec-
tion optics to suit its environmental
conditions.
The unit gives an early warning if its
energy capacity is low or if the detection
optics have become so full of imperfec-
tions that readjustment is no longer
possible. This gives you sufficient time to
replace the smoke alarm with a new unit.
Please ensure that the air inlets located
around the edge of the smoke alarm
are never blocked by dust, dirt, paint
of adhesive tape.
You should check that the unit is
functional on a regular basis, at least
once a month, by pressing the test and
stop button (Fig. 5) to activate a test
alarm. Check that the unit is free from
damage, that it is held tightly in place
and that the smoke inlet ribs (II) are
completely free from any foreign bodies.
