9 Remote Computer Connection

9.1 Utility Software for PC

When communication between the device and a remote PC is made (using the IrDA adaptor and ABB
Service Port Switch software) ABB Utility Software enables:

cyclic data and parameter data to be downloaded and saved to a compatible spreadsheet
application such as Excel – see page 93.

the device to be operated via a PC using the Remote HMI application

any HART command to be read or written using the HART application

9.2 Installing the Utility Software

To install the Utility Software onto a PC:

1.

Insert the Utility Software CD into the PC’s CD drive.

The installation screen is displayed automatically.

2.

Install the virtual port.

3.

Install the Service Port Switch.

4.

Install the Remote HMI.

Note.

The Utility Software is compatible only with 32 bit operating systems.
