DCF505 / DCF506 Overvoltage Protection

overvolt a ge protection DCF505 or DCF506. They protect the power p a rt a g a in s t in a dmi ss i b ly high volt a ge s .
The overvolt a ge protection a ctiv a te s a free-wheeling circ u it b etween connector s F+ a nd F- if a n overvolt a ge occ u r s . The
DCF505 / 506 con s i s t s of a trigger u nit ( S DC S -FEP-x) a nd a free-wheeling thyri s tor (two a nti-p a r a llel thyri s tor s in a
DCF506). To connect, us e the sa me s ize wire as the field exciter.
The DCF506 con s i s t s of a rel a y o u tp u t to indic a te a free-wheeling condition to the field converter. When the free-wheeling
f u nction i s triggered, it will l as t u ntil the DC c u rrent i s le ss th a n 0.5 A. D u ring thi s time the rel a y cont a ct s a re clo s ed.
Assignment field supply converter, overvoltage protection and cross-sectional areas

Only the s e converter type s a re a llowed to b e us ed as l a rge field exciter s . A 10 % c u rrent de-r a ting i s s trongly
recommended.


For motor field su pply from DC S 880- S 01 (2-Q) or
DC S 880- S 02 (4-Q) the overvolt a ge protection DCF506 i s
a lw a y s re qu ired.
Motor field su pply with DC S 880- S 0x a nd 4-Q overvolt a ge
protection DCF506.
