PowerCube PB8 details
Prior to the first insertion of the breaker into the
breaker compartment, or “cell,” it is important
to inspect the breaker compartment’s operating
assemblies listed on this page. The breaker is
shipped inserted into the compartment. The
breaker must be removed and the internal
compartment shipping brackets
10
below
must be removed to allow breaker racking into
the connected position.
The shipping brackets and lifting brackets
will be painted red for easy identification.
Circuit breakers have three positions
in the compartment.
1.
Disconnect position disengages the main
disconnecting devices and the control contacts
on the breaker. They are located a safe distance
from the stationary part of the device located
on the housings.
2.
Test position disengages the main
disconnecting devices and engages the control
contacts. This position allows operation of the
circuit breaker for testing.

Mechanical interlocks prevent moving a circuit
breaker from one position to another unless the
circuit breaker is open. The interlocks also prevent
closing of the breaker between positions.
When supplied, the truck-operated contacts (TOC)
9
actuate just prior to the breaker reaching the
connected position. Use of the pin monitor contact
located in the truck assembly (see maintenance
section) is recommended for absolute breaker
position indication, because it does not close until
the breaker is locked into one of the three racking
positions — disconnect, test or connect.
