6. Maintenance and Trouble-shooting
6.1 Daily operation and maintenance of the Softener
Note: If there is insufficient salt in the brine tank, the ion-exchange process cannot
take place during regeneration. Hence, there will be no supply of soft water.
Note: It is recommended to replenish salt more frequently but in lesser quantity
during the humid season or in countries with higher humidity. This will avoid caking of salt.

Note: Take caution when breaking the hard layer. Do not hit onto the inner wall or bottom
of the brine tank as it will cause water leakage
6.1.1 The installer will configure the water softener. User do not need to perform any operation on
the water softener unless there is a loss of power supply or insufficient salt supply.
When the type of salt used is not suitable or the humidity level of the surrounding area is too
high, a hard layer may form on top of the salt layer in the brine tank. This will prevent the salt
from its ability to fully dissolve and hence, may affect the supply of soft water. If this happens,
use a wooden stick to break the hard layer into small pieces.
6.1.2 Replenishment of Salt Supply
During each regeneration, a specific amount of salt is consumed, thus requiring its periodic
replenishment (the frequency and salt dosage level is dependent on the regeneration
schedule). Always replenish salt before the supply is exhausted for a continuous supply of
softened water.
