CAUTIONS AND LIMITATIONS
1. Use of this equipment has inherent risks that may result in serious injury or death to
the user. This SELF-RESCUE SYSTEM should only be used by a trained user and
then only when escape is necessary to avoid injury or death and no other means
of escape exists.
2. Training is required before use of this equipment in an emergency situation. Train-
ing includes guidelines, procedures, and other information beyond the scope of
these instructions.
3. This equipment is intended to facilitate the escape of an individual user. It is not
intended for simultaneous use by multiple users.
4. Performance of the equipment is dependent on several factors including, but not
limited to, the weight of the individual user, the physical condition of the individual
user, and the environmental conditions such as rain or snow. The equipment was
designed to provide reliable performance under most conditions, but extenuating
circumstances may require additional care or effort on the part of the user.
5. Performance of the equipment is also dependent on regular and thorough in-
spection of the equipment. This inspection includes REGULAR OPERATIONAL
INSPECTION, SPECIALIST LEVEL INSPECTION, and SCOTT AUTHORIZED
TECHNICIAN INSPECTION. Failure to perform the inspections properly may
seriously reduce the reliability and/or performance of the equipment in an
emergency situation.
6. The SCOTT Fire Fighter Self-Rescue Accessory system is approved to NFPA 1983
when used in conjunction with an approved SCOTT SCBA respirator.

• the date,
• any questionable conditions noted,
• any corrective actions taken.
If any damage is found or if the condition of any component is questionable,
remove the equipment from service and tag for replacement by authorized per-
