Watch out for EM radiation from other sources being picked up and re-radiated by the
PCB and cables. This can happen both with noise from the PCB radiating on to cables
and also noise from other kiosk components radiating on to the VC27U and then being
conducted away.
Keep all cables short, avoid running cables in parallel and keep
cables away from PCBs.
The VC27U can be boxed into a faraday cage using aluminium or steel boxes (usually as part of the mounting).
Leaving one end open for the connectors does not normally cause any major RF leakage. The box can usually
accommodate other components. Shielding can also be achieved by placing the VC27U against a bulkhead or
major component such as the display assuming it isn’t noisy or creates further problems.
Generally there is not a problem with immunity however care is required to ensure
that ESD to the document read slot is conducted away from the read head.
