Add, Review, and Approve a Prep
When a case is sent to a lab, the data includes high contrast black-and-white images of the
scan, including the prep. You must review the images of your prep to ensure there is a clear,
unobstructed view of the margin. This is as important as reviewing the onscreen scan for
proper coverage.
Note
: This is a required step in the scanning process. It must be completed before you can
sign a prescription.
After you have scanned the prep and two-thirds of each adjacent tooth (refer to your Lava
C.O.S. training for details), add the prepped tooth:
1.
Select the Add Prep button
, which becomes available at the bottom of the
Scan Review screen toolbar after you stop a scan. Selecting it takes you directly to
the Prep Selection screen.

Select the number of the prepped tooth, then touch the prepped tooth on the scan. The
system highlights the prep and the area around it.

: For multiple prep cases, repeat these steps for each prep. See “Multiple Preps” at the
end of this topic.
