Verifying Module
Software Releases
and Compatibility
To determine what software release is currently loaded on a Switch 4007
module, follow either of these sets of steps:
■
Verifying Software Releases on an Existing System
■
Verifying Software Releases on a New System and Modules
Verifying Software Releases on an Existing System
1
Connect to a powered-up chassis that is loaded with at least one EME
and a variety of switching modules.
2
At the EME prompt, enter:
show module all verbose
Scroll through the resulting screens to find the software release number
that is loaded on each installed module in the chassis.
3
Determine which modules need to be upgraded.
CAUTION:
Modules in the same chassis must operate at compatible
software levels. See Table 1 on page 11 for the required software versions
on all modules. Essentially, Table 1 shows that, while the EME module
operates with mixed releases as indicated, all other modules must
operate with release 3.0.5.
For each EME module, ensure that you check the release numbers on
four different images: EMC boot, EMC operational, EME boot, and EME
operational. At minimum, you will need to upgrade the EME operational
software because it is the only image that operates at release 3.0.5.
On an EME module in slot 8 or 9, notice that a module’s EMC images are
always in
sub
slot 1 and the EME images are always in
sub
slot 2.
4
Record the slot numbers of the modules that you need to upgrade as well
as which type of module.
You will upgrade all EME modules (either one or two) first. Then you can
upgrade switching modules in any order.
