15.3 E-Mail
This screen allows you to specify your mail server, where e-mail alerts should be sent as well as when and
how often they should be sent.
15.3.1 What are Alerts?
Alerts are reports on events such as attacks, which you may want to know about right away. You can choose
to generate an alert when an attack is detected in the
Attack Alert screen (Figure 15-6 - check the "Generate
an alert when attack detected" checkbox) or when a rule is matched in the creating/editing a firewall rule
screen (
see Figure 16-4)

When an event generates a report (an alert), a message is immediately sent to an E-
mail account. Enter the complete E-mail address to which alert messages will be sent in the E-mail Alerts
To field and schedule times for sending alerts in the Alert Timer fields in the E-Mail screen (following
screen).
