Commands Overview
This chapter introduces the command line interface and lists the available commands.
8.1 Command Line Interface
Note: See the web configurator parts of this User’s Guide for background information
on features configurable by web configurator.
You can use text command lines for software configuration. The rules of the commands are
listed next.

The command keywords are in
courier new
font.
2 A command can be abbreviated to the smallest unique string that differentiates it from
other commands. For example the “
sys date
” command could be abbreviated to “
sy
d
”.

The required fields in a command are enclosed in angle brackets
<>
, for instance, list port
<port>
means that you must specify the port number for this command.
<slot-port>
means that you must specify the number of the slot where the SLC is located and the
number of an DSL port. See the following examples for how to specify all slots and all
ports or specific ranges of ports.
a.
<*-*>
specifies all of the slots and all of the DSL ports. This only works
for commands that are common to all of the line cards (you cannot use an *
for the slot if the command is specific to the SLC).
b.
<3-*>
specifies slot three and all of the line card’s DSL ports.
c.
<3-1,3~5,10~15>
specifies slot three and the line card’s DSL ports 1, 3
through 5 and 10 to 15.

The optional fields in a command are enclosed in square brackets
[]
, for instance,
config
[save]
means that the
save
field is optional.

You may enter a unique part of a command and press
[TAB]
to have the switch
automatically display the full command. For example, if you enter “
sy
” and press
[TAB]
,
the full command of “
sys
” automatically displays.
6 “Command” refers to a command used in the command line interface (CI command).

symbol means “or”.
Note: Using commands not documented in the user’s guide can damage the unit and
possibly render it unusable.
