15.1 Broadcast Storm Control Overview

This chapt er int r oduces and shows you how t o configur e t he br oadcast st or m cont r ol feat ur e.

Br oadcast  st or m  cont r ol lim it s t he num ber  of broadcast , m ult icast  and dest inat ion lookup failur e
( DLF)  packet s t he Sw it ch r eceives per  second on t he por t s. When t he m axim um  num ber  of
allowable br oadcast , m ult icast  and/ or  DLF packet s is r eached per  second, t he subsequent  packet s
ar e discar ded. Enable t his feat ur e t o reduce broadcast , m ult icast  and/ or  DLF packet s in your
net w or k. You can specify lim it s for  each packet  t y pe on each por t .
